Astilbe ‘Bressingham Beauty’
Since there is so much colour in the Nursery at the minute, we decided to share with you Astilbe’s. Talk about an amazing variety of plants. Here in the Nursery we do about ten different varieties of these beautiful mid to late summer flowering plants.
Astilbe’s produce glossy, fern-like foliage and is recognised by their tall, fluffy plumes, colours vary from whites to reds to pinks and even shades of purples. They are great for a wet/damp area that is in the sun to partial shade (they will grow in full shade but thrive in dappled shade). They are such an asset for a wet area. What other plant gives such colour to the garden from mid-summer right through until the autumn. Such great value.
In the autumn or spring the spent plumes can be cut back. We recommend the spring time as we love to add biodiversity to the garden where we can and by leaving the stems were adding to it.
The great thing about Astilbe’s is that since there is so many different varieties you can get varies different heights and even different flowering times, it may be just a week or two in the difference, but in the garden a week or two extra of colour won’t go to waste.
