Verbena bonariensis

9.00

A tall, airy perennial with slender, almost leafless stems topped by clusters of vivid purple flowers. It creates a see-through, floating effect in borders, allowing other plants to be seen through its structure while adding height, movement, and a long season of colour.

Plant Details:
• Common name: Tall verbena / Brazilian verbena
• Position: Full sun
• Height & spread: Approx. 120–180cm x 45cm
• Flowering: June – October
• Soil: Well-drained soil; tolerates poorer ground
• Hardiness: Hardy in Ireland, but may need protection in very cold, wet winters or benefit from self-seeding replacement
• Pollinator friendly: ✔ Yes
• Something to note: A short-lived perennial that often behaves like a self-seeder, gently popping up in gaps each year. Best used in naturalistic planting where its height and transparency can weave through grasses and other perennials without blocking views
