A reliable, semi-evergreen cranesbill forming dense, weed-suppressing mats of aromatic, deeply lobed green foliage. In late spring and early summer it produces delicate, soft white to blush-pink flowers held above the foliage, adding a light, naturalistic charm to shaded or difficult garden areas.
Plant Details:
• Common name: Bigroot cranesbill
• Position: Partial shade to full shade (also tolerates sun if soil is not too dry)
• Height & spread: Approx. 30–40cm x 60–90cm
• Flowering: May – July
• Soil: Well-drained to moderately fertile soil; very tolerant once established
• Hardiness: Fully hardy in Ireland
• Pollinator friendly: ✔ Yes
• Something to note: One of the toughest and most useful ground-cover geraniums. The fragrant foliage helps deter some pests, and the plant forms a dense carpet that helps reduce weeds. It can be lightly trimmed after flowering to refresh growth and maintain a tidy spread.
